Mr. Gershon graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Binghamton, with additional coursework in physics and chemistry. He received his Juris Doctor from the National Law Center at George Washington University. He is admitted in Connecticut, Washington D.C., Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Patent Office.

Neil Gershon's law practice was founded in 2007 to provide IP consulting services in the medical device field focused on prosecuting patents worldwide, evaluating patent portfolios, conducting freedom to operate analyses, and implementing strategies to enhance protection and valuation, with several of his clients successfully completing sale of their IP to multinational corporations. His legal services also include conducting IP due diligence for angel investors and for venture capital firms in connection with acquisitions of technology and small companies.
Before founding his private IP law practice, Mr. Gershon served as in-house counsel, including Chief Patent Counsel, for medical device companies. Prior to Mr. Gershon's in-house positions, he was associated with IP law firms Darby & Darby in New York City and Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox in Washington, D.C. where his experience in the mechanical and electromechanical arts included patent prosecution, product clearance analyses, patent licensing, patent litigation and interference proceedings, and IP due diligence.
